The design inspiration for Poetry Home revolves around the concept of enjoying a relaxing life. The designer incorporates oriental textures, such as the grille design on the back wall of the study room and the ink wash pattern on the stone TV wall, to create an elegant and soothing hotel-like atmosphere. The use of dark colors as the base of the space further enhances the calm and quiet ambiance, catering to the owner's preference for a dimly lit environment.
What sets Poetry Home apart is its seamless integration of modern style with oriental elements. The half-height stone TV wall, adorned with an ink wash pattern, brings a touch of the East into the space. The upper part of the wall is designed with grey glass and a hollow structure, creating an expanded effect and adding visual interest. Additionally, a small area of the corridor is strategically placed to allow natural light to enter the study space in the back, enhancing the overall brightness of the room.
The rectangular ambulatory plane flow connects the living room, study room, and master bedroom, creating a flexible and fluid space. By removing the partition wall of the kitchen, the designer has transformed it into an open kitchen and dining area, allowing natural light to flood the space. The study room, originally the master bedroom, is now a functional and well-lit space for reading and research. The back of the half-height wall in the study room is integrated with a desk, maximizing the functionality of the space.
One of the key features of Poetry Home is its emphasis on interaction. The rectangular ambulatory plane flow facilitates easy movement between the living room, study room, and master bedroom, enhancing the relationship between the owner couple. With this design, the female owner can easily keep track of the whereabouts of the male owner, fostering more interactions and conversations between them.
The Poetry Home project was completed in Taiwan between February and June 2019. Extensive research was conducted to address the challenge of creating a sense of openness and visual aesthetics in a limited space. By dismantling the partition wall of the kitchen and introducing light through the use of glass and hollow structures, the designers were able to achieve a spacious and well-lit environment.
The Poetry Home design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of the project, as well as its adherence to professional and industrial standards.
With its unique blend of modern and oriental elements, Poetry Home offers a sophisticated and relaxing living space. This design exemplifies the harmonious integration of different styles, creating a truly remarkable residential experience.
